About Jennifer
Who is Jennifer Ziegler?
Jennifer is a writer, speaker, blogger, mother, spicy food lover, movie buff, and fan of all things wacky-yet-real.
Where does she come from?
Jennifer was born in Temple, Texas, but moved with her parents to Anchorage, Alaska, before her first birthday. There she got a younger sister, a younger brother, a dangerous snowball-throwing arm, and a passion for reading and writing. When she was five years old, she wrote her first poem in her kindergarten writing journal. Here it is:
The Sun
The sun is hot
The sun is hot a lot
If an astronaut
Should go to the sun
He would get caught
In the hot.
When Jennifer was eight years old, her family moved back to Texas, where she continued to read and write — but thankfully gave up poetry. Instead, she filled spiral notebooks with short stories, unfinished novels, detailed plans to sail through the Greek Isles, and doodles for the type of tattoo she wanted when she grew up.
Where is she now?
Austin, Texas. After high school she attended the University of Texas, where she earned degrees in journalism and English. While there she fell in love with Austin and its many cool hangouts, music venues, swimming holes, and hip people. Upon graduation, she decided to settle there, working as a freelance reporter, editorial assistant, and middle school language arts teacher. Jennifer also met a cute musician guy named Carl and the two got married.
What’s her secret?
Caffeine. Around deadline Jennifer personally sees to it that the coffee industry sets record profits for the year. She also has very patient and understanding family members who have long since stopped being alarmed when she camps out in her office typing and muttering to herself.
What are her goals?
That people will enjoy her books, maybe laugh a little, maybe cry, and maybe even learn something new. Oh, and it would be awesome if she someday finally made it to Greece. Or at least got that tattoo.
